    Born on 18 May 1976, she is the daughter of Dr. Ashok Ranjan Basu, I.A.S. and Dr. (Mrs.) Anulekha Basu. She completed her graduation from St. Bede’s College, Shimla, and pursued her LL.B., LL.M. and Doctorate in Law from Himachal Pradesh University. She enrolled as an Advocate with the High Court of Himachal Pradesh Bar Association in 2000.
    From an early age, she has been actively associated with cultural and creative pursuits and has received several awards at the State and National levels for her achievements in dance, drama, declamation, recitation, painting and handicrafts. She represented Himachal Pradesh University in the Moot Court Competition held at Hyderabad in 2000. She is also a Life Member of the Indian Red Cross Society.
    She joined the Himachal Pradesh Judicial Services in 2003 as Civil Judge (Junior Division)-cum-JMIC-cum-Rent Controller and served at Shimla and Una. She subsequently served as ACJM at Nurpur, District Kangra, and Hamirpur. During her judicial career, she has held several important judicial and administrative assignments, including Principal Magistrate, Juvenile Justice Board, and Chairman, Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee (SDLSC).
    She served as Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Senior Civil Judge, Sirmaur at Nahan, twice. She also had the opportunity of serving as Deputy Director, Himachal Pradesh Judicial Academy, on two occasions, and the Honour to work as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Hon’ble High Court of Himachal Pradesh, where she was entrusted with matters relating to Organisation and Administration, Personnel and Library.
    Upon promotion, she served as Additional District and Sessions Judge at Nahan and had the distinction of being the first Additional District and Sessions Judge at Paonta Sahib. She thereafter served as Additional District and Sessions Judge, Sarkaghat, District Mandi, with Camp Court at Joginder Nagar.
    On placement as District & Sessions Judge, she assumed charge as District & Sessions Judge, Kinnaur at Rampur Bushahr, on 16 September 2026.
